MacArthur Ninth Grade students celebrate freedom

Amy Tepper’s MacArthur Ninth Grade School art classes participated in “Celebrate Freedom Week” activities by painting murals reflecting their symbols of freedom. The winning class featured above was voted best overall mural by the student body. House Bill No. 1776, an Act to establish Celebrate Freedom Week in public schools, was enacted July 27, 2001. The bill was created to “educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of this country and the values on which this country was founded . . .“(H.B. 1776).
