Cowboys of Color Rodeo Tour returns

Quick reflexes with the rope help Wendell Hearn capture a winning time in calf roping.

The second annual 2002 Cowboys of Color Southwestern Rodeo Tour kicks off in Houston on March 23, 2002 with 2 performances, a 1 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening performance, at the Houston Farm and Ranch Club (Bear Creek Park, I Ambercrombie Drive). J. Paul Jr. & The Zydeco Nubreedz will perform after the 7 p.m. Rodeo.

The Rodeo offers good, family entertainment while teaching the cultural history and contributions made by ethnic groups to the settling of Texas and the Western United States.

Over 300 African American, Hispanic, European and American Indian cowboys and cowgirls will compete for cash prizes in traditional rodeo events: steer wrestling, bronc busting, calf roping, ladies barrel racing and wild bull riding.

Boys and girls 16 and under will also compete in junior calf roping and junior barrel racing.

J. Paul Jr. & The Zydeco Nubreedz will entertain after the evening performance and Texas Buffalo Soldiers, Mexican Charros, Ceremonial Dancers and Drill Teams will perform throughout the Rodeo.
