NFISD’s Fran Gentry to serve as GCAASB director

North Forest ISD trustee Fran Gentry will serve as a Director of the Gulf Coast Area Association of School Boards (GCAASB) for the 2004-2005 school year.

The GCAASB is a voluntary organization composed of more than 50 school boards in the greater Houston area to enhance the quality of education for public school children in the Texas Gulf Coast area by providing education and information to local school boards, and creating an opportunity for local school boards to impact the legislate process affecting public education.

The dues paid by GCAASB member school boards and associate members, who are supporters of public education, provide state-required training for local trustees at quarterly meetings, produce a regular newsletter, and support educational excellence at the local school level through a scholarship program.

“The experience that Mrs. Gentry has gained on her local Board of Trustees will benefit all of the students, staffs, and schools in the Gulf Coast Area Association as it is combined on the Executive Board with the experience of trustees from 14 other school districts,” said GCAASB Executive Secretary Jerry Smith. “Her leadership will be meaningful!”

Local trustees serving as officers of the Gulf Coast Area Association of School Boards include President Dr. Bill Haglund of Spring Branch ISD, First Vice President Rose Wise of Sheldon ISD, Second Vice President Leland Kuykendall of Channelview ISD; Secretary/Treasurer Dr. Aaron Clevenson of Humble ISD, and Past President Dr. Bill O’Brien of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.

Local trustees serving as GCAASB Directors include Emmett Hill of Aldine ISD, Pete Vincent of Alvin ISD, Earl Boykin of Crosoy ISD, Dr. Arthur L. Pace of Fort Bend ISD, and Jerry Toliver of Galena Park ISD.

Also serving as GCAASB Directors are Manuel Rodriguez of Houston ISD, Joe Adams of Katy ISD, Fran Gentry of North Forest ISD, Marshall Kendrick of Pasadena ISD, Sherry Mudder of Spring ISD, and Joe DeCuir of Texas City ISD.
