Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital breaks ground on new tower

HUMBLE, Texas (May 30, 2017) – Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital today broke ground on a new state-of-the-art patient care tower. The $70 million, 123,000-square-foot, five-story tower will feature 90 large patient rooms, with the flexibility to add an additional 30 beds.

Upon completion the tower will be accompanied by additional surface parking, as well as renovations to the east entrance of the hospital.

“This project exemplifies our promise to provide excellence in both high-quality care and service right here in the Lake Houston area where our patients live and work,” said Josh Urban, Senior Vice President and CEO, Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.

Memorial Hermann Northeast hosted the ceremonial groundbreaking this morning. Those in attendance included Merle Aaron, Mayor of the city of Humble, who welcomed the community and discussed the history of the hospital and its positive impact on the community.

“We thank Memorial Hermann for having a close relationship with us and the Northeast Hospital Board of Authority,” said Mayor Merle Aaron. “You have been a good partner in this process of bringing quality health care to Humble.”

Currently, Memorial Hermann Northeast is a 255-licensed bed facility that has been caring for families in the community for almost four decades. Its affiliated physicians span a wide variety of disciplines, including an elite group of neurosurgeons through Mischer Neuroscience Associates, an extension of Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Institute, Texas’ largest and most comprehensive neuroscience program.

In addition to the hospital, Memorial Hermann has several facilities that serve the healthcare needs of those who live and work in the Lake Houston area, including a Convenient Care Center in Summer Creek, RediClinics in Atascocita and Kingwood, and several Memorial Hermann Medical Group offices throughout the area. In addition, a second Convenient Care Center is scheduled to open in Kingwood this fall.
