Texas Mime Theatre presents a free performance of Your Body Talks, a show for families on Thursday, January 24 at 4:00 p.m. at High Meadows Library, 4500 Aldine Mail Route.
Your Body Talks shows in a lively way how the body communicates and can even tell stories without saying a word. This energetic show features original stories such as Rodeo, The Mechanical Man, The Bakers, The Couch Potato, The Orchestra and more. Fun for the whole family, Your Body Talks also provides children with an introduction to mime, the silent art. The project is supported in part by a Regional Touring grant from Harris County and the City of Houston through the Cultural Arts Council.
Energetic and exciting, internationally acclaimed Texas Mime Theatre captivates adults and children through a zany sense of humor influenced by Charlie Chaplin, Marcel Marceau and Wiley Coyote.
TMTs performances jump over cultural barriers to reach people of all ages and backgrounds.
Founded In 1901, Texas Mime Theatre has presented over 2200 shows and workshops in schools. In March 1987 the company traveled to Southeast Asia to perform in the Singapore Young Peoples Theatre Festival. There the company played to packed houses described by one critic as screaming with laughter and was named Best Foreign Group by the press.
In June of 1967, Texas Mime Theatre became a non-profit organization and. in 1968, became an Artist-in-Residence Company with Houston Community College and began performing at the Heinen Theatre on the HCC Central Campus.
The company has also performed many times at the Houston International Festival and with he Houston. TMT also tours the state through Texas Commission on the Arts.
