“Bring Your Hound to the Pound” pet health fair coming March 3

Harris County Rabies/Animal Control will hold its fourth annual “Bring Your Hound to the Pound’ Health Fair on Sunday, March 3 from 10:00 a,m, until 4:00 p.m.

This event is a heath fair for dogs. Services during this event include free rabies vaccinations, low cost Distemper/Parvo vaccinations, and low cost heartworm testing. Admission is free and pet owners are asked to leash their dogs.

The event is open to dogs of all breeds and sizes, and there are fun things for the owners as well. Activities such as the agility and flyball demonstrations, breed information booths and games for the kids will be offered. There will be free ID tags made while you wait, and free nail clipping by Mr. K’s Pet Shelter.

The Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) will be assisting with the event and their mobile truck will be open for tours. Each visitor also has a chance to win fantastic door prizes such as hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, and more.

Last year almost 300 dogs received rabies vaccinations, 203 received shots for Distemper/Parvo, and 148 were tested for heartworms. This year’s event will be even bigger and better, with more and different booths and exhibits.

The staff at Harris County Rabies/Animal Control and its many volunteers are excited to provide health care for dogs as well as activities for both young and old, and canines to enjoy. We would like to thank the many organizations that are making this year’s fair the best ever. Our contributors include Vortech Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Ross, IDEXX, Ft. Dodge, Harris County Precinct One, AstroWorld, Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant, Doubletree Hotels, Hyatt Regency Hotels and French’s.

All are convinced that dog owners should have a fun way to learn the latest information about pet care.
