Metro’s shuttles to Astros Field begins today

METRO’s Ballpark & Ride and the Houston Astros swing into action Tuesday, April 2, for the opening game of the 2002 season at Astros Field.

Homerun Express shuttles are available at the South Point Park & Ride, 12410 Kurland at 1-45 South; West Little York Park & Ride, 15010 Hempstead Road at West Little York; and the Hillcroft Transit Center, 6220 Southwest Freeway (near Westpark at 14th Street). Round-trip fare is $4.

Homerun Express buses start running two hours before each home game and will continue until about an hour after the game. The buses take baseball fans to and from the METRO Ballpark & Ride area in the shadow of Astros Field.

METRO’s Shortstop Shuttle, a free Downtown circulator service, also continues its home baseball game routes. These shuttles will run on two routes that will stop near major businesses and residential centers and in close proximity to garages and surface parking lots. The Shortstop Shuttles also start two hours before each home game and run about every 10 minutes.

METRO’s free trolleys will operate on their regular routes, with some offering service within walking distance of Astros Field.
