District Luncheons bring out lots of community groups

Northeast Houston area community groups, and citizens have a unique forum to voice their needs or promote their programs and events.

Every month on the last Thursday, the East Aldine Management District hosts a free lunch at the Sheriff’s storefont facility at 5202 Aldine Mail Route. This informal “Town Hall” has become more popular each month, and sets a model for citizen participation in other areas of the county.

From 12 noon to 1 pm, each attendee is given an opportunity to introduce themselves and speak whatever is on their minds. In addition, the District sometimes has a guest speaker to review a relevant community concern or topic.

For a sampling of last Thursday’s discussions, which were fully attended by about 80 persons, please see the print edition.
