Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. Community Center, 4700 Aldine Mail Route, will be awarding a $500 “Giving Back” College Scholarship to Lone Star College, along with a $100 bookstore voucher and a $100 Walmart gift card, for the 2010 summer or fall semesters. This scholarship is for people who want to make a difference in the lives of others as they walk their path to a better future.
Anyone qualified to apply, please come by the Center and get an application which must be submitted by Feb. 10, 2010.
Five finalists will be chosen by Feb. 16th. The finalists will then develop a Community Service Project plan which will be due by Mar. 1st. The submitted service project must be completed by April 15th. Scholarship winner will be announced at Aldine Y.O.U.T.H.’s 20th Anniversary Gala in May.
Other finalists will receive a $100 Walmart gift card. This scholarship was donated by Lone Star College for our Light of Hope program auction last month.
Kingwood AC and Heating owners, Kevin and Stephanie Marquard, bid the highest and then donated it back to Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. to award it to a person in our community. We thank them for this wonderful gift. For more information, call the Center at 281-449-4828.
