Incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott is running for re-election to a second term in office and will face Democrat Lupe Valdez, the former Sheriff of Dallas County, as well as Libertarian Mark Tippetts, a former member of the Lago Vista city council.

“The warm reception from Senator Sylvia Garcia and our supporters this afternoon proved that they are excited to elect change this November. At the state and federal level, it is candidates like us who are ready to fight for the progress these hardworking, everyday Texans deserve,” Valdez said.
