North Harris 2009 Teaching Excellence Award winners to be honored

Lone Star College-North Harris recently named five faculty members as recipients of the 2009 Teaching Excellence Award. In a process that involves faculty, staff, and student recommendations, five instructors are selected each year from among all full-time faculty.

“The Lone Star College-North Harris Teaching Excellence Awards recognize and honor outstanding faculty members and their essential role in the college. Quality teaching and innovative learning are the hallmark of the college, and these professors demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning,” says Dr. Steve Head, LSC-North Harris president.

This year’s award winners are Dr. Shae Adkins, speech professor; Shirley Ennis, kinesiology professor; Dr. Brian Kilpatrick, interpreter training professor; Kendall Lawrence; graphic arts professor; and Danel Olson, English professor.

The five outstanding faculty members will be honored at the upcoming Lone Star College System employee awards banquet on Friday, March 20. Award winners will also be individually recognized at the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) international conference in Austin this May.
