HOUSTON, TX – A man and a woman were hit by an SUV on Aldine Bender Saturday, Nov. 2, killing the woman.

According to Houston Police Officials, the two victims, pedestrians, were crossing the street around 11:00 p.m. when they were struck by a white Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver, Carlos Aguilar-Rodriguez, 27, then fled the scene on foot, leaving some of his family members in the vehicle. Paramedics transported the victims to an area hospital where the woman was later pronounced deceased.

Family members convinced Aguilar-Rodriguez to return the scene. He returned several hours later and was taken into custody.

He has been charged with two counts of failure to stop and render aid, one count of DWI with a child under 15 and one count of endangering a child.

The identity of the deceased female victim, 40, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The male victim, 41, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
