EAST ALDINE – A key figure in the Aldine community has joined the Board of the East Aldine District. Rocio Witte is the Community Developer for the BakerRipley East Aldine Campus, and brings that experience and skills to the East Aldine board. Witte fills the vacant position held previously by Luis Lucio who has transitioned to another location and position in the Lone Star System.
Rocio Witte was born and raised in El Paso, TX and moved to Houston with her husband in 2016. Rocio has worked in the East Aldine area for 4 years and has grown to love the community – spending more time here Continued than in her own community.
Rocio is the Community Developer for the BakerRipley East Aldine Campus managing external relations, the campus Advisory Committee and campus tours. She has worked in non-profit and at BakerRipley for 5 years. Prior to working at BakerRipley, she worked in retail for many years but her passion was always building community and helping others so when she started volunteering for Baker- Ripley during Hurricane Harvey, she knew she found her new home.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Human Resources from the University of Texas at El Paso and loves training, developing and helping others reach their goals. Rocio is certified in Adult Mental Health First Aid and is a Harris County Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar. She believes that civic engagement is one of the most important ways to help make change happen in a community. Getting the community involved takes time but it is a worthy investment.
Rocio received the Inclusive Heroic Award at BakerRipley in 2021 and the Community Excellence Award from East Aldine Management District in 2022. Rocio is a part of the BakerRipley Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee and a part of the East Aldine Stakeholder Committee along with other East Aldine partners.
In her spare time, Rocio likes to spend time with her husband & family, be outdoors, explore farmer’s markets & events and experience new foods & cultures.
