Latest example of Public Art to be displayed throughout the District
EAST ALDINE – As part of the Art for Aldine program, the Art Committee has commissioned a number of public art pieces throughout the community. The latest is a wall mural painted on the side of the ACE Dental offices of Dr. Gutierrez on Aldine Mail Route.
On Wednesday, January 31 the Art Committee and other supporters gathered for a dedication of the new mural.
The Project was done in collaboration with UP Art Studio who handled all aspects of the project design and execution. Artists were Cease Martinez (former resident and MacArthur alum) and Frank Nathen, under the direction of UP Art’s Elia Quiles.
Carlos Silva, chairman of the East Aldine District board, and chairman of the Art Committee, had the following comments on the meaning of the artwork:
The East Aldine Arts Council is proud to have recently completed our very own “Greetings From East Aldine” mural to boldly welcome residents and guests alike into our community. The nature of the design incorporates various elements that represent East Aldine including: our youth, our parks and greenspaces, our Town Center, our JFK statue, student athletics and MacArthur pride, and also our active and engaged senior community. Not to mention we rounded out the mural with both a bird of state and a bird of steel that you’re likely to see just about anytime you look up in East Aldine. The mural was dedicated to the families and residents of our District.
The Mural is located at ACE DENTAL at 3420 Aldine Mail Route Rd.
There is a short video that EV1 Pro made after our dedication, about the mural: https://vimeo.com/909280439
