Sheriff busts “Chop Shops” in 3 locations in Aldine and N. Houston

NORTH HOUSTON – Happening Now: A long-term auto-theft investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division (SID) led to the execution of multiple warrants at three sites by HCSO SWAT, Bomb & CNT.

These sites are suspected of being used as chop shops. Auto-Theft Investigators are conducting scene investigations.

This organized auto-theft ring has possible ties to a cartel.

Commanders are at the 200 block of Leago, but stolen vehicles have been found at all of the target sites; stolen vehicles and fraudulent titles with an estimated recovery value of $220K.

Update:

Additional sites include: 100 block of Gulf Bank and 11000 block of United. 11000 block of United is here in East Aldine in the Little York at Eastex Fwy area.

A total of 14 stolen vehicles were recovered from the three sites, with a recovery value of 1 million dollars.

Arrest update: Edgar Bravo (5-23- 02) 2nd degree felony theft, Jesus Gutierrez-Escamilla (2-4-83) 2nd degree felony theft, Bernardo Fernandez- Pereyda (5-22-98) Evading Arrest. Charges are pending on others.

4-5-24: Additional update to yesterday’s enforcement action: Charges have been filed on the following individuals. Both were already in the custody of the Ft Bend Co Jail on auto-theft charges, unrelated to yesterday:

Gary Charles (3-5-91) 2nd degree felony theft, and Darius Charles (11-30- 93) 2nd degree felony theft

  1. I’m glad they got caught! Do-bads stealing from hard-working people aren’t tolerated by law enforcement or us hard-working people.
