Celebrating the Diverse Cultures in East Aldine at Town Center

EAST ALDINE – The District will host an International Arts Festival on Saturday, May 25 from 11am to 2pm, at the Town Center. This will be a showcase for the Multi-cultural nature of the District, taking full advantage of the many ethnicities that live or work in the area. The Festival is free, and will have all types of art, from performing to dancing, to visual and participatory, and meditation and poetry.

Event Coordinator Alma DeAlejandro and marketing manager Monica Campos have planned a full day of art, dance, displays, classes, games, and more. The Astros Literacy Bus will be a special part of the event, they said and will include free books.

The event schedule starts with a jazz ensemble at 11am from Mac- Arthur High School. At 12pm look for the Soaring Phoenix CRCT Dragon & Lion Dances at Noon.

Then at 1pm the Polynesian Dancers from the Young Audiences of Houston will perform at the Town Center Amphitheatre stage.

There will be Live Mural Artists working all day, and will feature Jocy Bedolla.

Local as well as citywide groups will participate. There will be face painting, arts and crafts booths, train rides for the kids, and food trucks and more. There will be a giant Rubiks Cube, to challenge all those who want to put it together. And don’t miss the giant piano and pin press.
