ALDINE – The Aldine Independent School District is pleased to announce that Board Trustee Conception ‘Connie’ Esparza has been accepted into the prestigious and respected Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Leadership program. The program is designed to help participants develop advanced skills to improve school district outcomes.
“I am deeply honored to be selected for the Leadership TASB Class of 2025,” said Esparza. “My participation in Leadership TASB will result in the entire Aldine Board of Trustees earning the designation of Master Trustee status. This opportunity will allow me to enhance my leadership skills and bring new perspectives to our district. I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members from across the state to continue advocating for the students, families, and educators of Aldine ISD. Our work as trustees is crucial in shaping the future of education, and I am committed to ensuring that every decision we make benefits our community and strengthens our schools.”
As a member of the Leadership TASB Class of 2025, Esparza will join an outstanding group of 35 school board leaders from across the state who share an interest in strengthening their governance and leadership.
Leadership TASB, developed in 1993, is a unique board development program for school board members in Texas. It aims to provide visionary leadership and advanced educational training. The program exposes experienced board members to various issues, people, activities, and locations, with nationally known speakers addressing themes like teamwork, trusteeship, equity, diversity, and visionary leadership. The program is selected for demonstrated leadership and diversity in Texas school districts. Class members are selected for demonstrated leadership in their local district and communities and for representing the diversity of Texas school districts.
Esparza was elected to Position 4 of the Board of Education seat in November 2017 after being appointed in February 2017. Esparza, a retired educator, has been an integral part of the community since 1979. Her service as the Program Manager of Dual Credit at Houston Community College (HCC) Northeast and her involvement in various initiatives, including the Compensation and Academic Freedom / Professional Security/ Professional Growth Committees, demonstrate her commitment to the district’s success. She has also volunteered at MacArthur High School, Bonding Against Adversity, and the Harris County Sheriff’s DARE Program. Esparza’s membership in several boards, including the Mexican American School Boards Association and the Aldine Education Foundation, further underscores her dedication to the community.
Esparza has strong roots in Aldine. Her daughter is a graduate of MacArthur High School.
