Aldine ISD leaders honored with prestigious statewide technology awards

From community reports

The Texas Education Technology Leaders (TETL) organization recognized the Aldine ISD Technology Department
and Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney for their innovation, leadership, and commitment to using technology to transform education at the 2025 TETL Summer Conference at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.

The Aldine ISD Technology Department, under the direction of Chief Information Officer Adam Galvan, earned
the 2025 TETL TEAM Award for outstanding district-wide technology leadership. Galvan and his team were recognized for their leadership in developing technology systems that are robust, secure, and seamlessly integrated
into daily instructional practices.

“Through a shared commitment to their core mission—‘ help students learn, support teachers so they can teach, and ensure student and staff data remains safe’— this team has implemented visionary and impactful technology initiatives that have reshaped teaching and learning across the district’s 80 campuses,” Greg Grimes, TETL Board Chair-Elect said. “From a districtwide deployment of more than 30,000 Aldine ISD Leaders Honored with Prestigious Statewide Technology Awards interactive touchscreen devices—intentionally selected to support handson learning and accommodate diverse learning styles—to the successful launch of MagicSchool  AI, an innovative tool delivering personalized, immediate feedback for students, the team has set a new standard for aligning technology with instruction.”

The Technology Team was recognized for its meticulous planning, robust device management, targeted staff training,
and seamless integration of technology into daily practice—creating accessible and enriching learning environments
for every student.

“This team exemplifies the very best of what the TETL TEAM Award represents, and we are honored to recognize
their leadership, innovation, and service to the students, staff, and families of Aldine ISD,” Grimes said.

The Technology Department would not be what it is today without the vision and leadership of Aldine ISD’s Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney. Each year, TETL honors a superintendent who exemplifies visionary leadership and a strong commitment to using technology to transform education. Dr. Goffney was recognized for her bold and transformative leadership in a district where over 91 percent of students are economically disadvantaged
and nearly half are emergent bilingual learners.

Dr. Goffney was named the recipient of the 2025 Empowered Superintendent Award. Under her leadership, Aldine ISD has made significant progress in closing the digital divide by ensuring that every student has access to devices, internet connectivity, and essential digital learning tools. These efforts have not only improved academic outcomes
but have also laid the groundwork for long-term equity and excellence in teaching and learning.

“Dr. Goffney is a catalyst for systemic change,” Grimes said. “Her vision and determination have enabled Aldine
ISD to build an inclusive and innovative educational environment where all students can thrive, regardless of socioeconomic status.”

Both awards highlight Aldine ISD’s district-wide commitment to using technology as a powerful tool for transformation, equity, and student success. For more information on the Empowered Superintendent and TEAM Awards, visit www.tetl.org.
