Aldines Arie Gaines slammed home eight kills to lead the Mustangs to a hard-fought three-set win over Klein Forest 17-15, 11-15, 15-13 to improve their predistrict record to 4-6 in the third week of the high-school volleyball season.
The Mustangs of District 21-5A sent the Golden Eagles of District 16-5A down to their seventh loss in nine decisions.
For Klein Forest, Stacey Allen recorded five kills in the losing effort.
In other action involving Aldine Independent School District volleyball squads, District 21-5A MacArthur was drubbed by Crosby of District 21-4A 3-15, 2-15 as the Generals lost for the fifth time in 10 matches.
The Cougars Jasmine Young led both clubs with four kills while MacArthurs La Shunta Mosley picked up one kill for the Generals.
With the win over Mac, Crosby improved to 8-6 on the season.
