The Fontaine/Scenicwoods Civic Club is making a positive difference in Northeast Houston. Each year they recognize residents that are active in the community. Their Annual Recognition program, which included a delicious dinner, was well organized, beautifully decorated and well attended by more than 60 Fontaine/Scenicwoods residents.
Ms. Myrtle Rosa rendered the history of the Fontaine/Scenicwoods Civic Club. She reminded us that we need the representation of an active civic club. Local comedienne, Miss Minnie, made the audience laugh with her rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas entitled The 12 Pains of Christmas. The guest speaker, Starla M. Lewis, publisher of Positive Image Magazine, talked about her dream for a better Northeast Houston, one in which Homestead Road will once again be a main thoroughfare with a bank, department store and other prominent businesses.
The officers, President Effie William, Vice President Arnold Larkins, Secretary Tyeikka Bowie, Corresponding Secretary Reola Wilson and the Treasurer Robert Francois were proudly in attendance and were recognized for their dedication. Theyve worked diligently with other civic lenders and city officials to make sure that the Fontaine/Scenicwoods Civic Club addresses the needs of the residents and of Northeast Houston as a whole.
