Aldine ISD trustees call for school board election

The Aldine ISD Board of Education approved an election call during its Feb. 26 meeting for Position 1 and Position 2.

The election will be held on Saturday, May 4, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Position 1 is held by Marine Jones, who was appointed to the board to fill the unexpired term of former board member Doug Bussey.

Bussey retired from the board in November of 2001 because he moved out of the district.

Jones worked in Aldine ISD for 38 years and has been an Aldine resident for 28 1/2 years.
Position 2 is held by Emmett W. Hill. Hill has served on the board since 1991 and currently serves as board vice president. He has held all four offices and chaired numerous board committees.

The deadline for candidates to file for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, March 20, at 5 p.m. Candidates need to pick up an election packet from Frances Meder, whose office is located in the Central Office at 14910 Aldine Westfield Road.

Individuals interested in receiving a ballot by mail may call 281-985-6200 on March 5 through April 26, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Early voting will take place from April 17-30 at the Central Office from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
