The Optimist Club donated 68 bicycles (34 girl’s bikes and 34 boy's bikes) to the district's 34 elementary schools for each campus to use as an incentive to encourage and promote reading among the district's elementary students. The bicycle program began in the MacArthur Vertical four years ago with Mr. Mead personally funding the project. The Noon Optimist Club has now adopted the program and partnered with the East Aldine Management District to purchase the bikes. Last year was the first year the program was expanded to include all of the district's elementary schools. Pictured are Kujawa Elementary School Assistant Principal Kim Jenkins
