HOUSTON- Texas State Senator Sylvia R Garcia representing District 6 including north and east
portions of Harris County, filed for re-election with the Harris County Democratic Party this morning, November 14; the first day to file for a place on the March Primary ballot.
“I wanted to file on the first day possible to show my constituents that I am ready to serve them again in the Texas Senate.
I have fought for our community for 26 years as a public servant and I look forward to continuing the fight to protect our schools, our jobs and our families.”
During her first Legislative Session, despite being sworn in halfway through, Senator Garcia passed several bills, served on five committees and cast 3,908 votes. In the 84th Legislative Session, Senator Garcia served on the Education, Intergovernmental Relations, Transportation and Veteran Affairs & Military Installations committees and passed 37 of her bills including establishing a permanent Texas Women Veterans Program and a study into the needs of our homeless veterans.
Senator Garcia looks forward to beginning the campaign immediately and serving the people of District 6 for four more years.
