
EAST ALDINE – BakerRipley and the East Aldine District are hosting two training and information sessions during the month of June for those interested in Mental Health issues.
Termed “Mental Health First Aid” the series is based on a study program from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. The sessions are free, and aimed at educators and those working with youth. Lunch will be provided, but registration is required. RSVP at aldinedistrict.org/mfha.
The first session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 from 8:30am to 3pm, and consists of a 2 hour self-learning session followed by training from a certified instructor. This course is in English and Spanish.
The second session is scheduled for Friday, June 7 from 8:30am to 4pm, and consists of an 8 hour course lead by a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor. This session will be in English only. Again, lunch will be served, and all of this is free.
Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches individuals how to identify, understand and respond to mental health challenges.
The courses will be held at the East Aldine District office building, 2909 East Aldine Amphitheatre Drive, Houston 77093, off Aldine Mail Route in Aldine in Suite 200 of the building. You can register on the internet, or by scanning the QR code on page 8 of this issue. The sessions are open to everyone with an interest in Mental Health First Aid information and training.
