Winners of the Castlewood Pie & Gift Card raffle
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the Castlewood Civic Club Board raffled to its residents five Thanksgiving pies baked by the Culinary Arts Department of Northside High School (formerly Jefferson Davis High School). Residents were asked to call or text their name and phone number to the Castlewood President, Connie Esparza, to submit their entry. Only Castlewood residents were eligible and only one entry per household was accepted. Residents were also asked to share the Nextdoor posting with their neighbor who might not be on that social media platform. Deadline to submit entry was set for November 15 and drawing on November 16.
Five lucky winners were notified right after the drawing; however, they were in for a very unexpected surprise. Along with their favorite pie, each winner was gifted a $75 gift card to Walmart donated by the East Aldine District and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office as part of the “Operation Thanksgiving 2022,” a program that was started by retired HCSO Deputy Grace Luna to assist 100 East Aldine families.
Since her retirement, our very own Sergeant Terry Garza has continued the program, a partnership between the East Aldine Management District and Harris County Sheriff ’s Office. Kudos to Sgt. Garza! Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving from the Castlewood Civic Club Board.
